Music Direction

Andrew undertook his first music directing role in May 2025 as a senior in high school, conducting, performing with, and directing an 8 piece band for Hadestown: Teen Edition. He attended many vocal rehearsals for the show and sight read open and choral score. Before then, he often assisted the vocal director in warming up the choir/ensemble, leading sectionals, and playing orchestral reductions. He is self-taught in piano and baton conducting in musical theatre and choir genres, with assistance (and inspiration) from Dr. John Boonenberg and Dr. Veena Kulkarni-Rankin. He has performed and worked with music directors Jason Smith, Lindsay CieChanski, John Boonenberg, Brian Rose, Vanessa El-Zein, and Abbie-Jo Wilcox. He has worked extensively with theatre directors Brodie Brockie, Anne-Marie Roberts, and Tricia Wise.
